Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable
Optical fiber ribbons are placed inside loose tubes made of a high-modulus polyester material, with the tubes filled with a water-blocking compound. A metallic strength member is positioned at the center of the cable core; for certain fiber counts, this metallic member is further coated with an extruded layer of polyethylene (PE). The loose tubes (along with any necessary filler rods) are stranded around the central strength member to form a compact, circular cable core, with the interstitial spaces filled with a water-blocking compound. The core is then wrapped longitudinally with an aluminum-polyethylene laminate (APL) tape, followed by the extrusion of a polyethylene (PE) outer sheath.
Features and Applications
Excellent mechanical and temperature characteristics;
High fiber count due to the optical fiber ribbon structure;
Suitable for duct and aerial installations;
The loose tubes offer good flexibility and resistance to bending.
